The town is 5km inland from the Port de Pollensa. Narrow streets, great food and friendly locals make this a destination that generations keep coming back to and for good reason. It has a very chill atmosphere with sleepy rural cobbled stone streets and plenty of centuries old architecture. The backdrop of the Serra de Tramuntana mountains creates a cosy feeling. Thanks to the mountains, Pollensa lays a great base for those who love hiking and cycling.
Beaches
Pollensa has four different beaches in the area, each beautiful and all definitely worth exploring. The first is Puerto Pollensa. This is a great spot for families and has plenty of bars and restaurants. D’Albercuix beach is a small and peaceful bay close to the main beach. However, it is quieter and lined with stunning pine trees. Cala Boquer is a secluded beach surrounded by the Tramontana mountains with clear blue seas. It’s great for those who like to hike. Can Cap Bou beach is the opposite way from the port de Pollensa. It’s not as popular due to its proximity to the road but, for those who love water-sports, this is a perfect option.
Outdoor activities
One of the best things to do in Pollensa is activities that allow you to soak up all the sunshine and salty air. Stand up paddle and kitesurfing are big in the area and you can rent equipment and have lessons. Great for all experiences from beginner to expert. Hiking is also a must due to the amazing natural beauty of the Serra De Tramuntana. There are different trails to fit all different fitness levels and to find these maps and details go to the local tourist information office. Cycling is also a huge draw for the area. Even if you’re not inclined to cycle up the mountains, a ride along the beach is picturesque.
Explore
The town is filled with history with some buildings dating back to the 18th century and some even older e.g. roman times! The old town of Pollensa is quaint with lots of stops for tapas, wines, orange juice and ice cream. Sunday is the weekend market, so a must see for all those who love shopping. Mirador d’es Colomer has the best views. It’s 300m above sea level and located on one of the peaks of the mountains. From this viewpoint, you can see the mountain range, mediterranean sea, the bay of alcudia and towards Menorca Island.

Last but not least after a long day of adventure try some of the local cuisines! You can find anything here from burgers, sushi, and pizza to traditional dishes such as tumbet, Russian salad and pimentos! You’ll find plenty of places in the old town, port and other places dotted around.
