A meeting point for Poland’s food economy
Poznań is preparing to welcome the 2026 edition of POLAGRA, one of Poland’s principal trade events for food, food technology and hospitality. The fair is scheduled for 23–25 September at the Poznań International Fairgrounds, placing the city at the centre of conversations about how food is produced, presented and served.
The event is aimed primarily at professionals rather than casual visitors. Its programme brings together manufacturers, distributors, retailers, restaurateurs, hotel operators and suppliers of machinery, equipment and services. For Poland’s food sector, that makes POLAGRA less a tasting festival than a practical marketplace where products, technologies and business relationships meet.
The Polish Investment and Trade Agency lists three main sections: FOOD, FOODTECH and HORECA. Together, they cover products and beverages, processing technologies and packaging, as well as the equipment and services used by restaurants, cafés, hotels and other hospitality businesses.
From ingredients to the finished service
The FOOD section is designed to showcase the breadth of the food industry, including regional and traditional products alongside commercial offers aimed at retail and international distribution. The format gives producers an opportunity to present their work directly to buyers and professional visitors, while allowing retailers and distributors to compare products in one location.
FOODTECH extends the focus beyond what appears on the plate. It covers machinery, production systems, packaging and related solutions that can influence efficiency, consistency and the use of resources. For smaller companies, such settings can also provide a chance to see how new equipment works before making a major investment.
The HORECA salon focuses on the working environment behind restaurants and accommodation businesses. According to the organiser, its scope includes professional kitchen equipment, restaurant and café interiors, hotel facilities, reception and conference equipment, cleaning products and new technologies for gastronomy and hospitality.
A practical programme for hospitality professionals
The HORECA programme is intended to combine exhibition space with training and demonstrations. The organiser describes workshops and sessions on culinary trends, hospitality technology, marketing and changes affecting the sector. Practical presentations can be particularly useful for independent restaurants and cafés, where decisions about equipment, staffing and service often have a direct effect on daily operations.
Trade-fair participation also gives businesses a setting for informal comparison. A restaurateur can examine several equipment solutions in one visit; a producer can meet potential distributors; and a hospitality supplier can test whether a new concept answers a real operational need. This practical character is one reason the event remains relevant even as food businesses increasingly rely on digital sales, delivery platforms and social-media promotion.
Poznań’s role as a food-industry meeting place
The choice of Poznań is significant for the event’s identity. The city has long been associated with trade fairs and business travel, and the fairgrounds are located close to the city’s central transport network. During the three days, the event is expected to bring together participants from several parts of the food supply chain, from producers and importers to chefs, buyers and technology companies.
For the wider public, POLAGRA offers an indirect view of how food culture is changing. Trends visible at professional fairs often reach consumers later through supermarket shelves, cafés, restaurants and convenience formats. Discussions about product presentation, food-to-go, kitchen efficiency and hospitality design can therefore shape everyday experiences well beyond the exhibition halls.
The 2026 fair opens to visitors on 23 September and continues through 25 September, with separate opening hours for the final day. The organiser’s published conditions identify the event as a professional trade fair, so visitors should check registration and access details before travelling.
