Trakai has been included in the list of top 10 world‘s most amazing ancient villages and towns by the travel lovers community “Places to See in Your Lifetime“.

The list of the top 10 most fabulous ancient villages and towns that was posted on the much-loved “Places to See in Your Lifetime“ website features amazing sites of Fenghuang (China), Marburg (Germany), Jodhpur (India), Ronda (Spain), Bergamo (Italy), Trakai (Lithuania) Songzanlin (China), Alberobello (Italy), Civita di Bagnoregio (Italy) and Piodao (Portugal).

The town of Trakai is presented to global travellers as an old capital of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania, their residential palace being the only island castle in whole Eastern Europe.

It is also mentioned that the Trakai Island Castle is open for tourists where there is a wide display of medieval exhibits and many concerts and events, including the Knight Competition that attracts most viewers, are regularly held.

The lakes of Trakai offer many types of water activities, such as sailing, boating, water cycling and yachting, and the cosy local restaurants serve national dishes of the Karaite ethnic group to which Trakai is home.
