Final Rio medal count: Lithuania is the leader among the Baltic states

The Olympic Games of Rio de Janeiro closed on Sunday. Lithuania’s Olympic Medal Count amounted to one silver medal and three bronze medals, securing the 64th position.

67 Lithuanian athletes competed for 16 days and won 4 medals. The rowers Mindaugas Griškonis and Saulius Ritter won the silver medal.

The bronze medals were awarded to the rowers Milda Valčiukaitė and Donata Vištartaitė, the kayakers Aurimas Lankas and Edvinas Ramanauskas, and the weightlifter Aurimas Didžbalis. As a result, Lithuania is the leader among the Baltic states.

Estonian Men’s Quadruple Sculls won the bronze medal and took the 78th position.

Latvia has not received any medals for the first time since 1928. In total, medals were awarded to the athletes from 87 countries.

According to the Total Medals per Capita count Lithuania holds the 12th position. With the population of only 106,825 Grenada was the leader in this list, with the silver medal awarded to the 400 metres runner Kirani James.

The US is at the top of the medal tally with 46 gold medals, 37 silver medals and 38 bronze medals.
