According to the latest World Happiness Report, Lithuania comes 56th out of over 150 countries and pulls away from its neighbours Latvia (89th) and Estonia (73rd). Russia is ranked 64th, Poland – 60th and Greece – 102nd
The happiest country in the world is Switzerland, the manufacturer of watches and chocolate. This country comes third in the world rankings, initiated by the United Nations and calculated by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network.
Switzerland is closely followed by Iceland, Denmark, Norway and Canada. According to the latest World Happiness Report, Finland, the Netherlands, Sweden, New Zealand and Australia are also in the list of 10 happiest countries in the world, while countries like Togo, Burundi, Benin, Ruanda and Syria, devastated by the civil war, ranked the lowest.
The research is based on the Gallup World Poll data and takes into account measures such as the real GDP per capita, average life expectancy, corruption levels and social freedoms. A total of 158 countries are ranked in the report.
