Lithuania’s President Dalia Grybauskaite ranks 72nd among the world’s 100 most powerful females published by the US magazine Forbes.
“She’s been called the Iron Lady, and for good reason: Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite has been a fearless critic of her much larger and more powerful neighbour to the east, comparing (Russian) President Vladimir Putin to Josef Stalin and Adolf Hitler,” Forbes said in its presentation of the Lithuanian leader.
Grybauskaite is the first female president of independent Lithuania and the only leader re-elected for the second consecutive term.
First elected to the President’s Office in 2009, Grybauskaite has served as a member of the European Commission and finance minister in the past.
