The war in Israel continues and almost all European and American airline companies have canceled their flights to and from Tel Aviv. The Hungarian low cost airlines Wizz Air that flew from Tel Aviv to Vilnius and airBaltic that suggested low cost flights from Israel to Latvian capital city, Riga, also cancelled their flights due to Gaza conflict.
The Latvian airlines company airBaltic announced that the company decided to cancel its flights to Tel Aviv aimed the ongoing conflict in the country. Wizz Air also announced that the company suspended the all flights to Tel Aviv. “Safety of operation remains Wizz Air’s priority. Owing to continuing uncertainty, Wizz Air has decided to extend its suspension of operations to Tel Aviv Ben Gurion International Airport until midnight Thursday 24 July. Wizz Air remains in close contact with relevant authorities and any change will be communicated in due course” was written in official statement of the company in the website if the company regarding the flights from Tel Aviv to the all destinations.
Israel indicates that there is no reason to cancel the flights and Israeli airline companies El Al, Israir and Arkia have confirmed that they would continue to fly to and from Israel. The American and European companies have decided to suspend the flights after that in last Monday a rocket was lunched by Hamas from Gaza Strip fell two KM from the international Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv.
We ill remind that Israel launched its offensive on July 8 with the declared objective of stopping rocket fire from Gaza. During the war, at least 650 Palestinians and 33 Israelis have been killed since the war has begun. The passengers who planned to flight to and from Tel Aviv should be informed about their flights by the company and via official statements in the websites. Still, it is uncleared if the passengers will be compensate for the flights that were canceled.
