US reinforces its fighter jets in Baltic states

Regarding to the crisis in Crimea, United States, who are taking the responsibility for defending the Baltic’s sky, doubled the number of the fighting jets.

Six additional US F-15 fighting jets landed on Thursday’s afternoon in Lithuanian air force base in Šiauliai. One aerial refueling aircraft KC-135 that brought service personnel who will take care on the new fighting jets also landed in the Lithuania’s base. US defense minister, Chuck Hagel, noticed few days before that his country will reinforce its air power in the Baltic states.

So far, four American F-15 are guarding Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia from the air base in Šiauliai. The Baltic States that has small armies are not able to protect their airspace. Therefore, NATO Allies send their fighter jets and troops on a rotating basis.
