The prices for natural gas in Lithuania are going down

Lithuanian Commission of prices approved on last Thursday  decline of prices on natural gas by an average of 20 percents for domestic consumers . This is the first time in the history of independent Lithuania that the prices for gas are going down and not up reported DELFI.

Lowered prices for gas, which has already been approved by the Lithuanian gas company “Lietuvos Dujos” will operate six months – from July first and to the end of the year.

Member of the Commission Vigantas Vaitkus told in Thursday after the committee meeting that most of the reduction in the price is a compensation for the period of time from the beginning of 2013 year. According to him, until the end of 2015 the price for household consumers in fact should not be changed.

For customers who consume up to 500 cubic meters of gas per year, the price of gas will drop by 14.6% to 2.28 litas per one cubic meter. For those who consume up to 20 thousand cubic meters the price will be lower by 22.5 % and the costumer will pay 1.45 litas and for those who consume more than 20 thousand cubic meters the price will go down in 22.8 % and he will pay 1.42 litas per one cubic meter of gas. It is important to note that the subscription fee for gas will remain the same.
