Sochi 2014: Belarus has sent 27 athletes to the Olympics — President Lukashenka scheduled to inspect Belarusian sports and tourism facilities built in and around Sochi.

Alyaksandr Lukashenka on Thursday headed for Russia’s Black Sea coastal resort of Sochi, where the Winter Olympics will open on February 7, BelaPAN said

The Belarusian leader is expected to attend the opening ceremony, as well as meet with a number of foreign politicians and other figures on the sidelines of the Games, said the presidential press office.

In addition, Mr. Lukashenka is reportedly scheduled to inspect Belarusian sports and tourism facilities built in and around Sochi.

President Lukashenka is likely to attend events where Belarusian athletes stand a chance of winning medals. Belarus has sent 27 athletes to the Olympics.
