Boeing 777-200 that belongs to Malaysia Airlines dissipated from the radars two hours after he took of from Kuala Lumpur. In an official statement, the company announced that flight number MH370 had dissipated at 02:40 local time on Saturday (18:40 GMT, Friday).
On the flight, that was on the way from Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur to the Chinese capital Beijing, were 239 passengers from 14 countries. Most of the passengers were Chinese and Malaysians, while other were citizens of Indonesia, Australia, United States, France, New Zealand, Ukraine, Canada, Italy, Taiwan, Netherlands and Austria.
“We are doing everything in our power to locate the plane. We are doing everything we can to ensure every possible angle has been addressed,” said transport minister Seri Hishammuddin to reporters in Kuala Lumpur. “Our hope is that the people understand we are being as transparent as we can, we are giving information as quickly as we can, but we want to make sure information has been verified” he added.
According to Vietnamese government web sites, the plane went off the radars south to Vietnam, but the correct location is not clear yet. So far, rescue teams from Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam were sent to the area in order to find the aircraft. China sent also two ships to South China sea in order to give any assistance to the rescue crews reported Chinese television.
Meanwhile, Ahmad Jauhari Yahya, Malaysia Airlines chief executive, said that the focus was on helping the families of those missing. According to his, 80% of the families had been contacted.
In an official statement in Tweeter, Boeing said that “We’re closely monitoring reports on Malaysia flight MH 370. Our thoughts are with everyone on board”.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that “This news has made us all very worried. We hope every one of the passengers is safe. We are doing all we can to get more details” reported BBC.
“We are still trying to locate the current location of the flight based on the last known position of the aircraft. We are working with the International search and rescue teams in trying to locate the aircraft. So far, we have not received any emergency signals or distress messages from MH 370. We are working with authorities and assure that all sources are deployed to assist with the search and rescue mission” reported Malaysian Airlines in the statement in their web site.
