“Although many airlines have resumed operations, some flight routes have not been restored and the existing routes are capable of carrying significantly smaller volumes of parcels, which is why we are constantly looking for alternative flights and some of the parcels are travelling by land. As volumes slowly increase, shipping times are already longer in some destinations, but with the arrival of the peak season, they will increase in virtually all destinations. We encourage those planning to send holiday parcels abroad to send them as soon as possible,”
says Deimantė Žebrauskaitė, Head of the Customer Experience Management Department of Lithuanian Post
She adds that Lithuanian Post operates within the framework of the Universal Postal Union, so the delivery times of some parcels travelling through the Post Office also depend on the processes of other post offices. The Covid-19 situation in a given country can also affect delivery speed, i.e. how it affects the work of the local post office – whether there are any restrictions on intra-country communication, etc.
he most challenging situation is the current situation for shipments to the USA, where the average delivery time in recent months has been 12 days, but due to the dramatic increase in export shipments and limited international transport capacity, shipments to the USA can now take 2-3 weeks or more. Longer delivery times are also being recorded to other countries: Canada up to 20 days, New Zealand, Australia up to 30 days, the UK and Ireland around 2 weeks.

According to Ms Žebrauskaitė, the holiday period is the busiest, with parcel volumes increasing 2-3 times. The peak is at the end of November and lasts until the holidays, so those wishing to send greetings to their loved ones living abroad should do so as soon as possible before the festive season.
