Lithuania is most influential in the Baltics


The news outlet Politico reporting from Brussels stated that Lithuania ranks 17th most influential among 33 EU Member States and Candidates.

The President Dalia Grybauskaitė is valued for openness and strength”, Politico writes in its overview.

According to the analysis, Lithuania is ahead of Estonia (21st position) and Latvia (24th) by influence. Poland ranks 10th position.

Politico assessed the influence of the Prime Minister or President in the EU Summit, as well as the activities of the country’s Ambassador.

According to Politico, the most influential countries in the EU are Germany, the U.K., France and Italy.

As analysis also takes into account the EU membership candidates, the fifth most influential country is Turkey.
