Lithuania’s President: Obama promised to maintain the security of the Baltic States region

According to Lithuania’s President Dalia Gribauskaitė, who said yesterday (Monday) that she hared from the U.S President Barack Obama that he promised to take responsibility to the safety and the security of the Baltic States region.

A brief meeting between Gribauskaitė and Obama took place during the nuclear security summit in Hague.

“I just met and spoke with the U.S. President Barack Obama. We spoke about the security of the Baltic region , as well as on the situation in Ukraine. I am very pleased that the U.S. assurances and assurances of President Obama himself remain in effect, that we are in the spotlight and in the field of interests. For this reason, we can be safe, and to continue to solve our security problems with this huge state” said Gribauskaite to the president’s press services reported BNS.

Gribauskaitė also had in Hague a short meeting with the Chinese president Xi Jinping. During the week, Lithuanian President will meet with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Herper and another countries’ leaders.
