Lithuanian Energijos tiekimas started trading on the Nasdaq

From the beginning of 2016 Energijos tiekimas has started trading and market making activities on the Nasdaq Commodities, international commodities exchange

Lithuanian power supply and trading company has joined power derivatives exchange Nasdaq Commodities. The company is the only Lithuanian electricity supplier active on this exchange. Energijos tiekimas expanded its activities into wholesale power trading after it had acquired part of this business from Lietuvos energijos gamyba.

‘The expansion into wholesale power trading activities will help the company to respond faster to any changes in the market, assess future prices more precisely and offer our customers competitive products which are tailored to meet their specific needs,’ said Vidmantas Salietis, CEO of Energijos tiekimas. According to Mr Salietis, financial derivatives usually are used as a hedging tool that reduces the risks of electricity price fluctuations. In addition to trading financial power derivatives Energijos tiekimas will be a market maker for derivatives linked to Latvian market prices (EPAD Riga).

Nasdaq Commodities offers trading and clearing in Nordic, German, Dutch, UK and Baltic power contracts as well as Electricity Certificates, Carbon, Natural Gas, Freight, Fuel Oil, and Seafood.
