In September 12 th, the Lithuanian tennis team will face Bosnia and Herzegovina in Davis Cup Europe – Africa Zone Group II

The winners of the meeting will play next season in Zone Group I that leads to the world group playoffs. Lithuanian captain, Rimvydas Mugevičius, decided that Lithuania will be presented in Sarajevo by Ričardas Berankis, Laurynas Grigelis, Lukas Mugevičius and Dovydas Šakinis.

The preparations for the important meeting has not started yet. According to the plans, Lithuanian players will start to practice in a special training camp from the upcoming week.

“In Bosnia we are going to win. I understand that playing away will not be easy for us, they will be supported by their own fans. However, I hope that we will have enough time to prepare for the battle as in Vilnius and as in Sarajevo ” said the captain Mugevičius.

Regarding the fourth member of the Lithuanian team the captain said that “there were a few players who were nominated to play as number four in the team. We chose Dovydas Šakinis for a few simple reasons: among all the candidates to fourth place in the team, Dovydas is the most experienced player in the Davis Cup matches. Beside that, he is a very important player for us in the doubles match” summarized Rimvydas Mugevičius.

Earlier this year, Lithuania passed the Norwegian and the South African teams in order to play in the finals of the Europe Africa Zone Group II against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The match between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Lithuania tennis teams will take place on September 12-14.
