National Geographic names Belarus second best agritourism destination

 

traveler awards national geographicBelarus has placed second in the Agro Tourism category of the 2015 National Geographic Traveler Awards. The results were published on the website of the magazine, BelTA has learned.

The National Geographic Traveler magazine held a contest for the best tourist destinations in the most popular types of tourism, the 2015 National Geographic Traveler Awards.

The online voting was conducted from 29 June through 10 November 2015 in 18 categories such as Beach Leisure, Family Vacation, Ski Holiday, Excursions, Agro Tourism, Rest and Recreation, Eco Leisure, Adventure Vacations, Russian Tourism, Discovery of the Year, Culinary Tourism, Exotic Vacations, and others.

Belarus gained 22% of the vote in the Agro Tourism category. Belarus was behind only Italy with its 26%. Slovakia was in third with 20%, and was followed by Moldova (18%), Russia (9%), Serbia (8%), Australia (4%) and Lithuania (3%).

Belarus was also represented in the nominations Family Vacation (3%) and Rest and Recreation (3%). Belavia, the largest airline of Belarus, was featured in the nomination Best Foreign Airline having scored 3% of the vote.
