Vilnius: The majority of tourists came from Germany and the United Kingdom

Countries from which the majority of guests of Vilnius accommodation institutions arrived in January – August 2014: Germany, the United Kingdom, Belarus, Russia, Poland, Latvia, Ukraine, Norway, the USA, Estonia

Following the data of Statistics Lithuania, in the first six months of this year accommodation institutions of Vilnius accepted more than 424 000 guests.

If compared to the same period of 2013, the number of guests increased 14.4 percent.

The majority of guests are from Belarus, Russia, Germany, Poland and Latvia. Guests from these countries made 57 percent of all foreign tourists. Among top ten countries from which the majority of Vilnius guests arrived are the United Kingdom, Ukraine, Norway, the USA and Estonia.

The number of tourists also increased in Vilnius tourism information centres. In the first six months of this year, 15.3 percent more tourists visited Vilnius tourism information centres if compared to the same period last year. The majority of guests came from Russia, Poland and Germany.
