Lithuanian national men handball team qualified from the first place in the group to the World Men’s Handball Championship playoffs that will start later this month.
The first place in Group A that leads to the playoffs was secured yesterday (Saturday, January 11th) when the Finns, who are taking the third place in the group, manager to win the Georgian national team which is taking the second place with score of 36-24 and gave the leadership of the Group to Lithuania. Therefore, the last match for the Lithuanians against the Turks that will be played today (January 12th), became to be a formality. The match will take place in “Siemens Arena” in Vilnius at five PM local time and will not affect on Lithuania in any way.
Lithuania will fight for the tickets to the world cup in the playoffs that will held in late January. The championship will take place in Qatar at 2015. In the group stage, Lithuania reached three victories, one draw and lost only once to Georgia. Lithuanian handball team will try to secure its fourth victory in the group stage against turkey and to be prepared for the playoffs.
