Lithuania celebrates second win in a row

After promising victory over the Latvian team earlier this week, Lithuania destructed the Georgian squad in the second exhibition game from total 14.  This time, the scoreboard at the end of the match showed 82-51 to Lithuania.

Lithuania continues to prepare for the World Cup in Spain that will start at the end of August. This time, the opponent, or correctly the victim was Georgia. The game that took place at Cido Arena in Panevėžis was one sided. The Georgian players cold not find the answers to the offensive game of the Lithuanians while in the other side, Georgia failed time after time to pass the Lithuanian defense during almost the whole game.

Lithuania took the wheel in its hands from the first second of the match. Mindaugas Kuzminskas, Donatas Motejūnas, Šarūnas Vasiliauskas and Daividas Gailius gave 12 points advantage at the end of the first quarter; 21-9.

The second quarter was much more balanced when Georgia tried to come back to the match after the shock in the first quarter. Georgian’s basketball players managed to score 22 points to the Lithuanian basket, but the home team did not allow to the guests to win the quarter when they are scoring 25 with great game of Donatas Motejūnas. The teams went to the locker rooms when the scoreboard shows 46-31 to Lithuania.

The third quarter was equal. Both teams fought for the victory in the quarter. The final result was a draw 12-12. Lithuania and Georgia played defensive game style. Despite the fact that Georgia managed to stop the Lithuanian team during the second and third quarters, still, Lithuania was in front. After 30 minutes of playing, the score was 58-43 to Lithuania.

In the final quarter Georgia just collapsed. Lithuanian basketball players did anything they want on the court. it was total garbage time. At the end, Georgia managed to score only eight points to 24 of Lithuania. After 40 minutes of good basketball, the score was 31 points of advantage to Lithuania; 82-51.

Scored for Lithuania: Mindaygas Kuzminskas 15 (5 rebounds), Renaldas Seibutis and Donatas Motiejūnas 13 points each, Adas Juškevičius 10, Martynas Pocius 8, Deivydas Gailius 7 (6 rebounds), Artūras Gudaitis 5, Paulius Jankūnas 4, Darijuš Lavrinovič 3, Antanas Kavaliauskas and Šarunas Vasiliauskas 2 points each.

Scored for Georgia: Tornike Shengelija 13 (6 rebounds), Zaza Pachulija 9 (7 rebounds), Gregorij Cincadze and Levan Pacacija scored 8 points each, Beshik Lezava 4, Nika Metreveli and Duda Sanadze 3 points each, Beka Burdžanadze 2 and Otar Pchakadze scored one point for his team.

The next exhibition match of Lithuania will be also against Georgia. This time, the squads will face each other at “Simens Arena” in Vilnius this Wednesday at 19:00 Vilnius time.
