Visa regime should not shut ordinary citizens of Belarus off from the European Union (EU), former President of Poland Aleksander Kwasniewski and Lithuanian Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius agreed at their meeting on Friday.

The former president of Poland is a chairman of the non-governmental organization Belarus Task Force, which gathered together the “sages” of Central and Eastern Europe – public figures, former and incumbent politicians, experts, to analyze the situation in Belarus and form recommendations to the EU.

Kwasniewski handed in the newest organization’s rapport about the situation in Belarus to the Lithuanian prime minister and possible changes in the EU politics towards the so-called “last European dictatorship.” The former president of Poland said that it was most important to change the current visa regime between the EU and Belarus which caused unnecessary obstacles to the residents of Belarus to visit the EU member states.
Prime Minister Kubilius agreed with Kwasniewski that the EU should not hinder the citizens of Belarus from visiting the EU member states and noted the importance of the EU Eastern Partnership Programme in establishing more intense relations with the people of Belarus, opposition leaders and representatives of “political elite”, reported the press service of the Government.
